Workshop: Social and Solidarity Economy for Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Asia

The ILO is organizing a regional workshop on the social and solidarity economy in Asia in Bangkok, Thailand on 18-19 June 2024. Following presentations and discussions countrywide teams from Cambodia, Mongolia, Thailand and Vietnam will work on national action plans. OECD Webinar – Worker co-operatives across continents: Policy and practical experiences from Japan

In 2020, the Japanese legislature unanimously approved a groundbreaking law focusing on worker co-operatives, providing for the first time a centralised legal framework for the country’s worker co-operative movement. Worker co-operatives are active in many countries, and across economic and social sectors (e.g., agriculture, education, industry, culture, services, infrastructure such as electricity and water etc.). Four Modules on the SSE are now available in Portuguese and Russian

In 2023, ITCILO Turin developed two modules for an online open access awareness-raising package on social and solidarity economy (SSE) for the UNTFSSE. With financial support provided to the ILO by the Government of Luxembourg, these modules were made available in English, French, and Spanish. Both modules are now available in Portuguese and Russian. Arabic, Korean, Swahili, Turkish, Wolof, and Yoruba language versions will be made available shortly.
