II World Forum of Local Economic Development recognizes the importance of SSE in promoting economic and innovation dynamics

The Second World Forum of Local Economic Development was held on 29 October – 1 November 2013, in Foz de Iguaçu, Brazil. During a session dedicated to the potential and limits of SSE, speakers acknowledged the importance of SSE in promoting economic and innovation dynamics which generate decent work.

Developments occurring in the field of SSE have crucial implications for local development, given its potential for stimulating local economic activity, generating employment, building social and human capital, strengthening community governance of common pool natural resources, enhancing social protection, protecting the environment and empowering communities and disadvantaged segments of the population.
