The Mont-Blanc MeetingslogoRMB

The Mont-Blanc Meetings (MBM) is an international non-profit organisation created in 2005 by a group of social and solidarity economy (SSE) entrepreneurs wishing to build projects together that reconcile social, civic, environmental and economic efficiency. Its mission is to show, through examples, that social and solidarity economy makes another form of entrepreneurship nd in line with an overall goal of sustainable development possible.

  • Biennial events at Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France): once every two years, SSE entrepreneurs from all over the world meet to create projects together and to take a position on major international issues.
  • Continent-wide events to foster the recognition of the SSE and to promote SSE organisations throughout the world.

The International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Economy Entrepreneurs is:

  • An international network of entrepreneurs of the social and solidarity economy,
  • A sounding board for the international social and solidarity economy,
  • A factory for ideas and debates,
  • A platform to facilitate project initiation, known as «Project Place»,
  • Thematic international meetings,

A Scientific Committee made up of academics, distinguished researchers, practitioners and economists, responsible for producing intellectual publications and guidance reports, and for building the agenda of the events.

Goals

The Mont-Blanc Meetings (MBM) strive each day to promote the visibility and the international recognition of the social and solidarity economy. The association provides the operational framework for all actions initiated by the Meetings, at both the international and local level. Entreprises and organisations from the various countries that compose the association are responsible for organising the Meetings, coordinating the network and keeping everyone informed on the projects’ implementation. In March 2013, the MBM published the first book of the « World Social and Solidarity Economy » collection, entitled Social and solidarity economy, a response to international challenges.

The MBM also include the « MBM group With the Youth for the SSE ».

The Mont-Blanc Meetings hold special consultative status granted by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Association activities

Firmly rooted in reality, the Mont-Blanc Meetings – International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Entrepreneurs, made of the international SSE entrepreneurs, play a special role in fostering cross-border and cross-family partnerships between social and solidarity economy enterprises and promoting the SSE at the international level.

The international leading group of the SSE

The newly founded international leading group on the social and solidarity economy, with the objective to promote the social and solidarity economy, involves states, international institutions and civil society organizations.

It aims at promoting a form of entrepreneurship which is accessible to all populations, as well as improving the consideration of this economic model in public policy implementation.

Initiatives Report

The objective of the Initiatives Report of the Mont-Blanc Meetings – International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Economy Entrepreneurs is to highlight initiatives and projects in progress or completed throughout the world. The goal is therefore to show, through examples, that SSE meets the needs of populations on all continents. This Report contains dozens of initiatives (1 project = 1 page), classified according to theme.

Project Place:

The Project Place, invented by the MBM, is a fertile ground for innovations, from which economically, socially and ecologically responsible initiatives and international projects are emerging. It is a platform for the creation of projects based on discussions and meetings between social and solidarity economy entrepreneurs from all over the world, notably through their participation in the MBM. Its goal is not to finance projects but to facilitate them virtually and physically, before, during and after the forums.
